First crack at knocking the blogger off

The time for speaking-up is long overdue. But the funny thing is that after making the effort to set up my own blog I've lost track of what I wanted to say here in the first place.

Sitting here looking at the screen of opportunity before me I guess this is not a bad start. If I look at it another way, it would be.

This is a bit like one of those situations one gets when travelling - stay with me for this one....It's a foreign country, the streets are narrower than you're used to and the houses and shops you're walking past are closer than they'd be if you were walking in your own neighbourhood. You're paying the greatest attention to everything from the exqusite pastries in the bakery window to the pointwork of the masonery on the local post office next door. The alleyways branch off, leading you to yet more things of interest; there's a lemon tree in a planter box, at the gate of a welcoming residence with a lovely black-painted door with a brass plaque you can't read from this distance, but you guess it's for a barrister, accountant or medical specialist. But then you feel the ripples of a wave of something akin to deja vu lapping at your mind. You reach for the map in the travel guide that's in the back pocket of your jeans and think where the hell am I?

I understand that's a bit of a journey I've just taken you on in that paragraph back there, and your're possibly thinking 'I hope that map's a good one or we're going to get lost real fast here!'.
